About Abeer

I am 49 years old and a mother of three children ages 27, 22, and 20. I moved to the United States from Jordan-Amman in the Middle East 21 years ago. I speak Arabic and English fluently. Taking care of children has always been my passion. I enjoy planning fun activities and cooking for children. I have always enjoyed watching kids grow up and creating an environment that is loving and fun but also disciplined when necessary. I enjoy planning special events for the kids such as birthday parties, or holiday themed events. Raising my kids was very important to me. I stayed home to raise them until they grew up. My oldest daughter had asthma growing up and my son has type 1 diabetes. I have 10 nieces and nephews that I help care for through the summer. I have also helped in the nursery at my church for more than 6 years, and continue to help regularly. My first job as paid nanny was with a special needs child. He had to have a bone marrow transplant and had specific allergies. I went through treatment with the child for a year and a half and took care of him from ages 6 months to 5 years old when he started school. I began working for a second family with two kids ages 1 and 5. I would drive them to different activities, cook meals, and plan different activities such as riding bikes to the park or play-dates with friends. I also ran errands for the family such as picking up groceries, returning items to the mall, or going to the post office. I stayed overnight periodically when needed. I have been with the family for 4.5 years. The kids are starting full time school in September so I am looking for a new full time position.
