About Amanda

Hi, my name is Amanda. I'm currently in school at Stony Brook University, specializing in working with individuals with disabilities. I am a New York State EMT and volunteer at my fire department. Additionally, I am CPR certified. I started working with individuals with special needs at 18 and now have 7 years paid experience. I was inspired by growing up with my cousin who has autism spectrum disorder. This experience has fueled my passion for providing care and support to children with disabilities. I am skilled in de-escalation, active listening, and problem-solving, allowing me to create a safe and nurturing environment for all children. Beyond my focus on special needs, I have extensive experience in general childcare. I enjoy engaging children in educational and recreational activities, ensuring they are both entertained and learning. I look forward to the opportunity to bring my dedication and skills to your family, providing the best possible care for your child.
