About Aura

A few years ago I had the opportunity to come to the States to work as an Au Pair and I did so for 2 years. I was in charge of a 2 and a 5-year-old. It was a wonderful experience that taught so many skills for life and allowed me to teach them some of my culture, by the way, I'm from Colombia! Currently, I take care of my step children, they are 9 and 12 and I'm working towards an Interpreter in ASL degree. I must say, I enjoy working with little kids, playing with them, reading, and teaching them as much as possible. If possible, besides teaching your kids some Spanish, I will try to use sign language as I talk to them. Why is that? I've been able to learn and understand the difficulties deaf children experience when going to school and having no one who knows their language, so the more kids learn this language, the less isolating and more inclusive world we create for those who also deserve love.
