About Avery

Currently, I am a freshman at UCF, majoring in Health Sciences and eventually, would like to work as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist (OT). Throughout high school I had many opportunities to work with kids as a VBS Camp Counselor, elementary school teacher's assistant, babysitter, and intern for an elementary OT. As a camp counselor I enjoyed doing crafts, dancing, and watching kids become excited for the next day of camp. In my position as a teacher's assistant I worked mostly with first graders, leading small groups and providing additional support on various occasions, including field trips. I have consistently babysat for a family of three kids for 2 yrs and still enjoy visiting them when I am home. While shadowing an OT, she taught me how to work with kids on their fine motor skills and everyday life skills. We also worked in a special education classroom with kids of various behavioral/learning needs. I truly feel called to work with kids and love watching them grow and learn.
