About Julia

I have had years of experience, both paid and unpaid, visiting and caring for and enjoying the elderly. When growing up, my parents instilled a respect for elders which I passed on to my children. In fact my youngest is now in nursing school and she said one of the reasons she chose nursing was because of her regular contact with elderly friends, and nursing home visits, which touched her greatly. My own mother had Alzheimer's and she lived with us (six children home at the time) and it was so memorable. I also worked independently for some local families, and for an agency in Kalamazoo. Alzheimer's opened a new part of my mother's brain, as others were closing. We enjoyed her in a rare and wonderful way in her last years. Acknowledging the dignity of all life, from conception to natural death, is a constant in my life. I would extend that respect and care to any person for whom I may provide care.
