Being a single mom with no support in a state alone, I was ahead of myself moving down here and was just looking for extra help after my previous sitter started college so our hours didn’t work anymore. At the beginning it was great. She really stepped in to be the extra support I needed with my daughter. We agreed to 9-10 dollars a hour since it would be a repeating long term job. She told me this job was for extra money and I explained to her I make my money by each shift and summer time it gets really slow. Even if a payment was missed I made sure to make up for it next shift. There was two times Kathleen did pick up after 9pm and the car smelled of alcohol. Could have been her friend but she often showed up with different friends in the car or at her home which sometimes was questionable but I felt I could trust her. The more as time went on she seemed to go out more and more but I honestly did not care because she still would be available for me to work or we plan for the next day. The day she decided to leave she texted me a long msg at 11pm at night being rude and telling me i wouldn’t find anyone who would love my daughter like her and i spend all my money on myself. It scared and obviously offended me. I do the best to provide for my daughter alone and actually don’t get any time to myself because I have such bad mom Guilt working and being tired, which I vented to her about a couple of times. I thought we were getting closer and all I wanted was to build a relationship with some I can trust with my daughter no matter what. She could have communicated at any time if there was any problems and she didn’t. So that left me completely caught off guard and left to now find help last minute for work. There was 2 times that i overslept and she did not bother to call or even show up to my house with my daughter. She kept my daughter trying to rack up hours of payment. Even asking her to please come to my home she did it a second time. I’m not sure if anyone else would have the same experience but it was extremely unexpected and completely uncalled for. I would hire her for basic baby sitting needs. She is great with kids. But building a relationship and long term I don’t recommend. Or any pick ups after 9pm since normally she’s coming from an outing or dinner.
