Hello, my name is Katia. I am a mother of 3 girls, aged 15, 4, and 3. When my second daughter was born, we had my husbands 99-year-old grandmother move from Philadelphia to Lancaster to live with us in our home. She spent over a year of time with us before her passing. I was her sole caregiver for every part of her daily life. Meal prep, errands, bathing and dressing, medical appointments, medication schedule, beauty care, and of course her social life! Last year I also had the ability to care for my grandfather in his final months every day while he was on hospice care in his home. I helped him with eating, taking medication, repositioning him in bed, cleaning him, and changing his briefs. I learned many things in those final months, but the biggest thing was to listen and allow him to share his life stories. He left us last year. He left behind my grandma, is wide of 64 years.
