About Lela

I am a certified 7th grade math teacher and a former Teach for America corps member. Currently, I am a medical student at UMass Chan Medical School. In my most recent teaching role, I work with a diverse group of learnings which includes scholars on IEPs, 504s, English Language Learners, and Gifted Learners. I aim to increase my students' problem-solving skills and self-efficacy in learning, particularly in STEM related thinking. Aside from this teaching role, I have 10 years of tutoring experience grades 3-12 in subjects including math, ELA, chemistry, and Mandarin. I have also taught summer school for grades 6-8 ELA and math and HS Algebra II. I majored in neuroscience and completed premedical studies at Amherst College and can provide premedical counseling and advising.
