About Marianna

I like working with kids because they are unapologetically intelligent, imaginative, and carefree --It's true. They force me to rethink my perspective on things big and small (one minute it's which Ice-Cream flavor is the best, the next, the best structure of F-4 war planes in Vietnam) I've worked as a babysitter for free roughly my whole life (I am one of 11): caring for my younger siblings, for my older siblings children, my cousins, etc. I started working for money in Eighth grade, and have been doing it ever since. In my spare time, I like to dance, paint, and go to my mini book club meetings with my friends over tea. I am patient, creative, and understanding. I remember how it was to be a kid, and I know that they just want to feel reassured at the end of the day: that we do listen, that we care, that we pay attention to them, etc. I try to be creative with the activities we do, and also I try to teach them that boredom is okay because it always helps the brain think.
