About Mary
Experience: 10 yrs
I have been a caregiver for my own elderly parents and my oldest brother. My parents are deceased now and my brother is currently in hospice care. I was very hands-on with my parents as they both had COPD, and congestive heart failure. My mother was confined to bed for several years. My dad also had Alzheimer's. In addition, I was privately hired to care for a woman and man with Alzheimer's. I was in charge of a nursing home and assisted living facility ministry. I can play piano and love to read out loud. I am a great listener and I have a B. S. degree in Human Services. I am retired from the insurance industry, but I have also been a substitute teacher and a day care supervisor. I believe we can learn much from our elderly population if we care to just spend time with them and listen to them.
