About Melinda

I am currently a second-year student at Berkeley Law and a recent alumna of the University of Southern California, where I graduated summa cum laude with a major in English Literature and minors in Spanish & Psychology. At USC, I gained teaching experience as a volunteer teacher and as a tutor for student athletes. Since graduating, I have continued to tutor through Wyzant and College Nannies and Tutors. I have always had a passion for languages and aim to infuse that same enthusiasm in my students! I especially love to work with students in improving close-reading, analysis, and writing skills, which are applicable to every major and necessary for success at the university level. While most people dread the prospect of beginning an essay, I can make the process less daunting by providing you with the tools to create a strong foundation for your writing. These include developing a coherent thesis, structurally outlining your points of argument, and contributing original and insightful analysis. I can also aide you in the stages of proofreading and work with you to correct grammatical errors, identify logical inconsistencies, and strengthen the persuasiveness and flow of your argument. I also can provide support for test-prep, college application counseling, resume writing, and general organizational study skills. I am accustomed to working with students with a wide-range of strengths and personal preferences. By drawing from my varied experience as a tutor, I tailor my teaching style to your needs and ensure that our time together is engaging and productive!
