About Mercedes

Hello!! I am an elementary school teacher who is passionate about helping your child grow as a student. I have taught 3rd grade for 3 years and won New Teacher of the Year during my first year. Since then, I have been committed to turning students into scholars and helping them grow in confidence as well as ability. Last year, my students made over 200% average growth in reading and math. Additionally, all of my students passed their Reading and Math state tests in a classroom with diverse learning profiles. They all grew exponentially with 17/20 scoring in the advanced range. I have also tutored after school with first, third, and fourth graders. I am passionate about teaching phonics to struggling readers by accessing the whole brain and using the science of reading, enriching already fluent readers, and making math concepts come to life.
