In college I stumbled upon the Gerontology field as I was acquiring my Social Work degree. As I started taking classes, I realized the strong need our society has for senior care. I pursued a minor in this field which allowed me to complete an internship at the local senior center. I found a strong connection to this work. I love listening to seniors talk about their lives, experiences, and memories. Along with my social work experience, I believe I have strong knowledge and passion behind connecting with older adults. After college, I was offered a job at Brookdale senior living homes as a program assistant. My duties were to implement daily activities that stimulate creativity, motor skills, and physical rehabilitating. After 6 months in this position, I was promoted to the Program Manager.
