I have done home health care on and off over my entire life. I was a caregiver to my grandmother for years as her live in helper. She was somewhat bed/chair bound, needed assistance with a shower or bed bath, medication reminders, shopping, light cleaning and I made all her meals for her. I also worked for a facility that was the home of 30 mentally challenged adults. Many with downs syndrome. I helped with their daily care and meals and cleaning. My shift was a 48 hour weekend. I also worked as a full time nurses aide back in the mid 1980s. Way before certification was required. I had 6 patients on my assigned floor that I grew to love and care for as if they were all my grandparents! I was brought up that you help your aging parents and grandparents and be there for them always. I take great pride in those I care for!
