About Ruth

I worked as a senior care/companion for several years with Home Instead Senior Care on weekends while my children were middle school and high school ages. With some of those seniors I provided physical care as well as companionship. I also helped to provide care for the mother of friends of ours who had suffered a stroke. I worked as part of a team and learned how to transfer her using a "sling". I have experience bathing, dressing and transferring seniors with limited mobility, as well as dispensing and managing medication. While working with Home Instead Senior Care I learned the fundamentals of safety and supervision for a senior in my care. I am a careful, sensitive person with good listening skills and the ability to make interesting conversation and initiate activities that older individuals might enjoy. I am a good cook and enjoy preparing meals for other people. I have a dependable vehicle and a clean driving record and am comfortable transferring individuals into my car.
