About Samrawit

As the eldest child in my family, I took on significant caregiving responsibilities from a very young age. Throughout my childhood and teenage years, I helped raise my three younger siblings. This involved preparing meals, assisting with homework, playing games, and being a nurturing presence during their formative years. This experience instilled in me a deep sense of patience, responsibility, and an understanding of children's emotional and developmental needs. When I left for college, transitioning from a parental support role allowed me to discover my passion for education and working with youth. Last summer, I had the incredible opportunity to teach 6th grade math to underserved students through Generation Teach. This experience reinforced my ability to connect with children from diverse backgrounds, identify their unique strengths, and create an enriching, supportive environment that empowered them to learn and grow.
