Wow, what a treat it is to have Sylvia in our home. She is able, efficient, uses initiative and quite simply, has helped us enormously. 4 months after relocating, we were still topsy-turvey from our move with half emptied moving boxes split everywhere, shelves and closets half built, and storage boxes piled high...and no place to put anything. Sylvia dove right in, helping immediately to put some order and space into the house. What first endeared me to her was that during the interview, as we were doing a walk-around, she swiftly sorted out a small container of toys that had been thrown together in one box into the places they belonged. Sylvia has turned out to be all I was looking for. After six weeks of her capable help, our once cluttered house has been transformed. In addition to good basic cleaning, Sylvia has a great eye for detail and a superb sense of organization. She was easily able to zone in on what I wanted - even when I wasn't able to articulate it. I have found her friendly and her straightforward manner and clear communication very heartening. Her ability to make order out of chaos in a gentle manner, really lifted what was becoming a growing load, off my shoulders in terms of actually getting things done. I haven't had to explain much, as Sylvia naturally seems to know how to organize as well as keep things running the way you like. She's always punctual and has been very obliging in terms of extra hours when I've needed them. She takes care to make sure she understands everything I'd like to get achieved, within the time we have. Honestly am thrilled with her service, she has proved adept at quickly running errands here and there, and although I have yet to take-her up on them, I understand she has good basic computer skills. * In addition, Sylvia helped out at an evening event at my friend's preschool, doing an admirable job of setting up the room and tables for dinner and then leading rotating groups of 6 children as they made Christmas projects. She learned everyone's names and put even the shyest child at ease and was adept at helping them do the tricky parts - very nicely done. As far as organizing, she has been an absolute godsend and I can only imagine that with her at the helm, once the house is done, she will continue to help keep our home ship-shape. Highly recommend - especially to a fun, friendly family looking for a full time housekeeper/childcare person. Will update this review further down the road.
