After my father passed away due to my mothers health issues with heart disease and diabetes I became her primary caregiver for aprox 18 months before she ultimately passed away. I also was a partial live in caregiver for an elderly lady for aprox 6 months after she was released from a rehab facility but could no longer live alone due to fall risks. I stayed at her residence helped with dressing, meal prep, medication reminders, errands, companionship, laundry, and light housekeeping and when she was able to we would go on drives to get her out of the house. She had visiting nurses that came a few times a week and in home physical therapy. I would stay at her residence for about 10 days to 2 weeks at a time then her daughter would come for a couple days generally on a Friday to relieve me for a few days. We did this rotation aprox 6 months or so and then ultimately the family decided to move her to a nursing home. I also helped care for a family friend for a year who had cancer.
