My name is Tori and I am 23 years old. My grandmother started showing signs of dementia almost 10 years ago and moved into my house when I was in high school. Most days after school, I kept her company and took care for her when my mom needed to work. Her symptoms increased to the point where I needed to help with diapers and baths. The most important part, to me, was keeping her entertained enough to cease the worries and confusion that she faced from her dementia. She now lives in a home but I'm grateful for the time I was able to spend with her and help. I'd love to be able to spend my free time with someone's loved one.
