I am energized by the challenge of tapping into each student's core set of passions as an engine for their academic success. I am especially effective at providing reading and writing support for middle- and high-schoolers, but my broad Liberal Arts background is well-suited for math and science tutoring as well. As Residential Educator at Rock Point School, I provided trauma-informed educational and recreational programming to students with behavioral and learning challenges, including autism, ADHD, anxiety, PTSD, and dyslexia. I lived on-site and offered after-school and weekend support with homework, interpersonal skills, and executive function, both one-on-one and in groups. All students have the desire to learn and communicate their interests; the key is to come up with creative ways for students to feel confident in doing so, despite whatever challenges or differences make their experience unique. This holds true for both traditional and non-traditional learners.
