About Kira

I have years of experience working with children in extracurricular and educational settings, including 5 years as an elementary teacher focused primarily on the upper elementary grades. Through my decades of work as a dance teacher, I've worked with students ranging in age from 2 through adult. Prior to moving into public education, I worked as a Behavioral Health Professional, providing individual children and their families with in-home behavioral and mental health support. I have experience in polite American Sign Language, although I am not currently fluent. In addition to my teaching work, I have also worked in a support role with students receiving special education services ranging in age from kindergarten through 8th grade. In particular, I've supported students diagnosed with ADHD, autism, intellectual disability, anxiety, depression, and more. I have experience teaching all major subject areas, including math, literacy, social studies, science, and social-emotional learning.
